History Department

As part of Semester II& IV’s requirements of undertaking a field visit to places with prospects or potential of eco and historical tourism, students of the concerned semesters were taken to the Bhairabpur and Bhairabkunda by the Department of History, Udalguri College, Udalguri. The students were taken then taken to Gethsemane (Men Made Forest), where they were received by the Secretary of the Joint Forest Management Committee (JFMC) Mr Bilup Daimari. The JFMC has earned laurels through the successful creation of a forest in a barren land comprising 550 bighas of barren land. As of now, even wild animals from nearby reserves roam in the area and this has attracted tourists from the state and nation to the site. The students intensively inspected the location and interacted with the volunteers of the Committee about the history and the potential of the area. As part of their field visit snapshots were clicked and field notes were written down. The team returned from the site around 4 p.m.
